The Library of the University of Kelaniya was prominently recognized at the Vice-Chancellor’s Awards and Long Service Awards Ceremony, held on 1st January 2026 at Dharmaloka Hall, University of Kelaniya, in recognition of excellence in research, innovation, professional commitment, and long-standing service.
Dr. C. C. Jayasundara received special appreciation in recognition of the honour brought to the University in 2025. This recognition was awarded in appreciation of receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Committee of Vice-Chancellors and Directors (CVCD) as the Best Outstanding Senior Researcher in the field of Social Sciences and Legal Studies for the year 2025.
In addition, Mr. M. A. K. S. Munasinghe was commended under the Outstanding Service – Web Category and secured Third Place in the Best Innovators / Inventors in the University category, recognizing his significant contribution to innovation and digital development within the University.
The Library staff, including Ms. C. M. Abeygunasekara, Dr. R. A. A. S. Ranaweera, Dr. W. M. T. D. Ranasinghe, Ms. A. S. Rubasinghe, Dr. M. P. L. R. Marasinghe, Mr. R. M. D. P. Rathnayaka, and Mr. M. A. K. S. Munasinghe, were appreciated during the ceremony in recognition of their professional commitment, accuracy, and impartiality demonstrated in validating the research publications submitted by academic staff for the Vice-Chancellor’s Award 2025 and previous years, a responsibility undertaken by the Senior and Assistant Librarians of the Main Library of the University.
Under the Long Service Awards category, Gold Plated Medals and Certificates for 35 Years of Continuous Service were awarded to Mr. K. D. Jayanayake, Senior Assistant Registrar (Library Services), and Ms. A. M. D. T. I. Chandani, Senior Staff Assistant / Library Services.
Furthermore, Silver Plated Medals and Certificates for 30 Years of Continuous Service were awarded to Ms. S. P. Madampage, Senior Staff Assistant / Library Services, and Mr. L. D. M. Sanjeewan, Library Information Assistant (Grade I).
These recognitions reflect the Library’s vital role in supporting research excellence, innovation, and academic integrity at the University of Kelaniya.
